Bamboo cleared back to bare ground
A mature clump had spread along the fence line and out over the paving. The canes and the rhizome mass underneath were dug out together, and the ground taken back to clean soil, ready to be replanted or laid.

Photos from our bamboo clearance jobs across South London.
Dense, tall and usually further along than it looks from the lawn.

Canes cut, roots dug and rhizomes lifted out with the mini digger.

The rhizome network is the real problem. This is what a bamboo root system looks like once it has been dug out.

Cleared and ready for whatever comes next.

Patios, brickwork and fencing once the bamboo has gone.

This bamboo had grown into a solid screen, tall enough to hide the fence behind it completely. It was cleared with the mini digger, canes and roots together, and the fence line came back into view.

Bamboo roots had worked into the brickwork of this raised bed and cracked it apart, which is exactly the kind of structural damage bamboo is known for. With the bamboo out, the wall was rebuilt and the curved brick path relaid.

Google reviews, word for word.
Recently used these guys to remove a clump of bamboo in my garden which had infiltrated into next door. What started on the face of it as a relatively small job turned into a bit of a monster as the extent of the roots into next doors garden were dug out. Tony, Stan and Syd were fantastic throughout the whole job. They turned up early each morning and worked right through to around 5 each day in the middle of the recent heatwave. As the scale of the job increased, the guys kept me fully informed of progress and how this impacted on the overall cost as additional working hours/skips etc were required. Their work was undertaken to the highest standards ensuring that every visible piece of bamboo was removed. Given they were predominantly working on my neighbours property, the standard of work and their professionalism and politeness was greatly appreciated. At the end of the excavation we had around 16 tonnes of soil in order to backfill the trenches delivered onto the pavement to the front of our property. Considering the amount of soil delivered, the guys cleaned up behind themselves to the extent you’d never know they had been there. I really can’t recommend this company enough - it was a pleasure dealing with Tony, Stan and Syd!
Really impressed with the work ethic, professionalism, and communication from this company.
I hired South London Bamboo Removal to - you guessed it - remove bamboo from my garden. They first came out to my home to provide a quote and set expectations about the process - always clear and helpful in answering questions.
When it came to the actual removal, because our home does not have direct garden access from the street, they had to dig it all out by hand (vs with machinery) and move the debris through the house. This was hard work! And they were diligently working at pace within their quoted time. When it came to moving the debris through the house, they were super clean and careful not to get anything dirty or damaged.
It’s been about a month since the removal and we feel confident the bamboo is truly gone. Highly recommend this company!
Mark spent 2 days taking out a huge amount of bamboo roots in our garden. He was great, very careful and thorough and has left us with a very clear garden.
He did a survey first and then credited the cost of that against the overall cost.
He is a lovely guy and nothing was too much trouble.
We are very happy with the result
I had a huge section of bamboo removed today by this company. They were amazing! Nothing was too much bother, even removing a door to get the digger down the side return. Very reasonable rates and Mark was polite and courteous. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this company to get rid of your unwanted bamboo or anything else you need digging up. Perfect job, thank you!
Tony came to assess the bamboo in our Victorian semi detached back garden. He could see we were stressed and was extremely reassuring that it could be done. The best option was digger access through a very cooperative neighbours property. Over three days Stan and Sid dug the trenches and removed all the bamboo. They arranged the skips and the backfill. All the costing was explained in full. They were very prompt, courteous and cleaned everything up each day. At the conclusion everything was left in excellent condition. Thank you Tony, Stan and Sid. Highly recommended.
Syd sent a quote quickly and was able to fit the job in at short notice. He removed four bamboo plants whose roots ran very deep and wide. He was polite and incredibly hardworking throughout. I’d highly recommend him for any bamboo removal.
